DAY 2
GOD’S CREATION
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
-Genesis 1:1
REFLECT
In the beginning, there was emptiness. But God had a great plan, to create an incredible world. Over six days, He spoke everything into existence.
On the first day, God said, “Let there be light.”
He separated the light from the darkness and called the darkness night.
On the second day, God created the atmosphere and divided it from the oceans.
On the third day, He made dry land appear and separated it from the water.
On the fourth day, God created the sun, moon, and stars.
On the fifth day, He filled the sky and the seas with living creatures.
But after five days, God wasn’t finished yet. He saved His best creation for last! God wanted to share His creation with someone, so on the sixth day, He made man from the dust of the ground and woman from the man.
God created us so He could have a relationship with us. Creation is the beginning of God’s story of love for us, a story that leads all the way to Jesus and the very first Christmas.
DISCUSS
What's something God created that reminds you how incredible he is?
How does it feel to know God wanted to share his creation with you?
PRAY
Thank you, God, for making all things. Thank you for loving me and wanting to have a relationship with me, and thank you for sending Jesus.
FAMILY ACTIVITY
Go on a nature walk to admire all God has created (or if it's too cold, watch a sunset). Try to find something in the shape of a heart. Take it home as a keepsake to remember God’s love for you.
