ASSOCIATE WORSHIP PASTOR

Position Summary
The Associate Worship Pastor is responsible for helping establish and lead a healthy, engaging culture of worship across Summit Park Church. This role serves under the direction and leadership of the Worship Pastor and is responsible for developing worship leaders, musicians, vocalists, and students; leading worship services; caring for volunteers; and helping build and strengthen the worship ministry across the church and its campuses. The Associate Worship Pastor should have a firm grasp of the values, beliefs, and culture of Summit Park Church and lead the worship ministry accordingly. This role will have significant responsibility in supporting the development and launch of the new campus, as well as assisting at the main campus.
Full-Time Role Structure
This is a full-time position designed to combine the responsibilities of the Associate Worship Pastor role with additional ministry responsibilities based on the individual's strengths, experience, and the needs of Summit Park Church.
The specific combination of responsibilities will be determined based on the candidate's strengths, experience, and the current needs of the church.

Key Responsibilities

Worship Ministry Responsibilities
  • Lead engaging and Spirit-filled worship during Sunday, Wednesday, and other church services and events as needed.
  • Help establish an engaged and active culture of worship that encourages people to participate and grow in their worship of God.
  • Coach and develop worship leaders, vocalists, and musicians to grow in their leadership, musical ability, and ministry effectiveness.
  • Recruit, train, and care for new musicians, vocalists, and worship volunteers, striving to maintain three-deep coverage at each position.
  • Pastor and build relationships with key volunteer leaders and members of the worship team.
  • Assist with worship team rostering, placement, and scheduling in Planning Center.
  • Regularly evaluate the worship experience and provide feedback to maintain a high level of excellence and engagement.
  • Communicate regularly with the Worship Pastor and other worship leaders to improve the effectiveness of the worship ministry.
  • Work with the Worship Pastor and church leadership to ensure the worship ministry supports the overall vision of Summit Park Church.

Youth Worship & Student Development
  • Develop and disciple youth students who are called to worship ministry.
  • Help build and develop the church's youth worship program.
  • Identify, recruit, train, and develop student worship leaders, vocalists, and instrumentalists.
  • Create opportunities for students to serve, lead, and grow in their musical and spiritual development.
  • Work alongside youth leadership to plan worship services, rehearsals, setlists, and team development.
  • Help create a clear pathway for students to grow from participating in the youth worship program into serving on the broader worship team.
 
Rehearsal & Service Preparation
  • Prepare worship teams for rehearsals and services, including setlists, rosters, roadmaps, lyrics, and necessary resources.
  • Help ensure all necessary resources are available for new songs, including vocal tracks and other rehearsal materials.
  • Provide feedback and coaching during rehearsals.
  • Ensure stage placements, mic assignments, and other service documentation are prepared as needed.
  • Assist with setup and preparation of the worship environment for rehearsals and services.

Leadership & Development
  • Participate in worship team meetings, staff meetings, one-on-one meetings, and other leadership meetings as requested.
  • Assist with auditions and trainings for worship volunteers.
  • Develop a healthy team culture through intentional communication, discipleship, coaching, and relationship-building.
  • Build meaningful relationships with worship team members through consistent communication, encouragement, and pastoral care.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Must be proficient in either guitar or piano while singing.
  • Ability to play additional instruments is a plus.
  • Experience with worship ministry is required.
  • Ability to use or learn Planning Center for scheduling and managing worship teams.
  • Ability to lead, coach, communicate, disciple, and build healthy relationships with volunteers and students.
